A Happy Ending!
There was a Dad who promised to buy his boy a puppy. As they looked over the ones for sale at a dog kennel the Dad asked his son which one he wanted. The boy pointed to a puppy that was constantly wagging its tail, and said, “I want the one with a happy ending.”
Some people hunt for religion or a life focus like they would shop for a puppy. Their choice is in accordance with a face they like, or with regard to the way it runs, the tricks it can do, the symbol of prestige that might go with it, etc. However, what about THE END. Oh, it might provide some pleasure for the present, but what is the reality associated with ETERNITY? There must be more than a view for merely this life (note 1 Corinthians 15:19) because this is not all there is to our existence. What some are settling for may be nothing more than a dog’s life -- enjoying being scratched behind the ears -- while what is needed is to find the life God (which happens to be dog spelled backwards) desires to provide.
Paul noted in his letter to the church at Rome…
“(20) When you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. (21) But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? The end of those things is death. (22) But now that you have been set free from sin and HAVE BECOME SLAVES OF GOD, the fruit you get leads to sanctification AND ITS END, ETERNAL LIFE.” ( Romans 6:20-22 ESV)
It is not a dog’s life, but God’s life we have been given the opportunity to live. Remaining on His “leash” and enjoying life within the boundaries He has set is where we will find the greatest blessing and hope. Only through our surrender to God in Christ can we find the life with a truly happy ending; one that goes on and on into ETERNITY! May that be the choice we have made. We could find no better Master than Him!
Have a great day BEING GOD’S BEST FRIEND!
