Warning! Warning!

“Warning! Warning! Alert! Alert! Danger! Danger!” [Those words make me think of the robot on “Lost In Space”.] Flashing lights! Ringing bells! Blasting horns! Screaming sirens! All meant to gain our attention and get us to act either to deal with and avert the danger or remove ourselves from it.
Warning systems are used in so many areas of life today. They have been set to warn of fire, smoke, illegal entry, power overloads, leaks, dangerous levels of gases, tidal waves, landslides, floods, etc. These warning systems are marvelous, provided they have been set properly. One could have purchased the most sophisticated alarm system, but if it has not been properly programmed, what good is it?
God has given us a warning system that is also marvelous, provided it is properly programmed and its warnings are heeded.
It has been said that “Conscience is God’s built-in warning system. Be very happy when it hurts you. Be very worried when it doesn’t.”
Paul stated…
“So I ALWAYS TAKE PAINS TO HAVE A CLEAR CONSCIENCE toward both God and man.” ( Acts 24:16 ESV)
“For OUR BOAST IS THIS: THE TESTIMONY OF OUR CONSCIENCE that we behaved in the world with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you.” ( 2 Corinthians 1:12 ESV)
Has our CONSCIENCE been properly programmed through a continual focus on God’s Word? When its bells go off and its light goes on do we heed the warning? God wants us to be warned when there is a chance of slipping, falling, or getting burned by things contrary to His way. Let us allow God to aid us in programming our CONSCIENCE that we may be warned of those things that are out of place with His will.
