Little Creature / Big Lesson!
We can learn by listening up, looking up, and even looking around us. There are great lessons that can be learned from among the ordinary and minute things of life. Even Solomon directed the attention toward the observation of a tiny creature of God from which wisdom could be gained.
Solomon urged…
“Go to THE ANT, O sluggard; CONSIDER HER WAYS, AND BE WISE.” ( Proverbs 6:6 ESV)
Later in the book of Proverbs we find that Agur also made reference to the ant and the preparations it focused on making. ( Proverbs 30:25) Perhaps you have watched them and marveled at their busyness and even the size of objects carried. Though they are tiny creatures I have even seen where their continual back and forth travel has worn down a path through the grass.
One of the members of our congregation has been battling some tiny sugar ants in their home. It seems that once these ants FIND SOMETHING GOOD they don’t keep it to themselves, but immediately BROADCAST IT to the rest of their community and the trail begins. Ant after ant forms a continual trail to the newly found food source and once the march has begun it is difficult to stop.
Is there a busyness that marks our life? Like the ant are we busy about the preparations we need to be making, especially those of a spiritual nature? Also, having found SOMETHING GOOD -- the “true “bread of heaven” ( John 6:32-35) that brings complete nourishment for the soul -- are we content with dining ourselves or are we eager to BROADCAST IT to our community as well? May we go to the ant and become wise by considering in her ways a lesson of eternal significance for ourselves and those around us.
Have a great day SHARING THE GOOD NEWS WITH OTHERS!
Carl
