Advise Whom?
Can you imagine, going into the office of the president of a company, asking him to give you a job, and then telling him the job you want is to advise him in his business? Do you think he would excitedly jump at the chance to employ you? Or do you think he would look at you as if you were crazy and possibly ask you where you were when he founded his company? If he didn't throw you out of his office, possibly he would offer you a position in the mail-room with the opportunity for advancement in the future.
Now, as incredulous as the above might sound, there are some who wish to serve God -- but only in an advisory capacity. They want to tell God how they want things rather than looking for and accepting what is in accordance with the wisdom of His will.
God asked Job…
“(2) Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? (3) Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me. (4) WHERE WERE YOU WHEN I LAID THE FOUNDATION OF THE EARTH? Tell me, if you have understanding.” ( Job 38:2-4 ESV)
And Peter exhorted…
“HUMBLE YOURSELVES, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so THAT AT THE PROPER TIME HE MAY EXALT YOU,” ( 1 Peter 5:6 ESV)
LET GOD BE GOD! Always recognize His wisdom far exceeds ours! Trust His purposes to prevail!
Have a great day FOLLOWING THE COUNSEL OF GOD!
Carl
