Life On The Loom!

My wife just completed crocheting a baby blanket. It is a beautiful blend of pastel colors patiently worked together over a several week period. To me its making has appeared to be a fancy process of making loops and tying knots, but the end result is beautiful. This blanket will be given to a family of our congregation who recently had a baby.

Working with yarn has been around for a long time. Beautiful blankets, rugs and tapestries have been woven on the loom, row by row and color by color. In the early stages, perhaps someone might wonder about the combination of some of the colors and patterns being formed. However, when the finished work is cut from the loom it is admired for its colorful variety that forms the whole.

In Isaiah we read the following words of Hezekiah following his recovery from an illness.
“My dwelling is plucked up and removed from me like a shepherd’s tent; LIKE A WEAVER I HAVE ROLLED UP MY LIFE; HE CUTS ME OFF FROM THE LOOM; from day to night you bring me to an end;” ( Isaiah 38:12 ESV)

Our life in the hands of God can be likened to a MASTERPIECE being woven on the loom. Each of our individual lives may not display the same colors and patterns, but moment by moment, bit by bit, color by color, event by event, our LIFE’S TAPESTRY is gradually woven together. Woven into this TAPESTRY OF LIFE are various textures and colors that contrast the good times and tough times. Some patterns may be wider than others representing varying lengths of life’s experiences. Then when the day comes that the last row has been completed, our life will be cut from the loom. It can then be viewed together as a BEAUTIFUL MASTERPIECE to be taken to be cherished in God’s eternal home. May we trust ourselves in His hands as we look toward that day.

Have a great day OPEN TO HIS WORK STILL BEING DONE!
Carl
