"Oops?"
When my wife hears me say “Oops!”, she knows I have made a mistake. I have accidents. I commit blunders. I goof up. It is unfortunately a part of my life. Sometimes in spite of my carefulness when carrying out a task, I find myself making the very mess I was hoping to avoid. Stuff sloshes and spills and there is a mess to be cleaned up. Am I alone in the struggle?
Imagine lying on an operating table undergoing surgery. What would go through our mind if we heard the surgeon suddenly say, “Oops!”? It would be a bit unsettling to say the least. Since we know what we mean when we say “Oops!”, that is not what we would want to hear from the doctor who is cutting into our body. To hear “Oops!” would not be very comforting.
I would dare say that “Oops!” is one word we won’t hear from the mouth of God. We should be encouraged that nothing with God is an accident. He does not make mistakes. We may struggle in understanding His Ways and His timeline at times, but they will inevitably prove to be right. The reality about each of us is that “we all stumble in many ways.” ( James 3:2) However, we should find comfort in the PERFECTION of God!
From David’s song of deliverance (also 2 Samuel 22) we read…
“This GOD -- HIS WAY IS PERFECT; THE WORD OF THE LORD PROVES TRUE; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.” ( Psalm 18:30 ESV)
The more we accept GOD’S WAYS and follow in them, the less “Oops!” will come from our lips with regard to our spiritual walk. Faithfully striving to live in accordance with His Will we will instead speak more praise and thanksgiving for His Wisdom guiding us. Let us also be thankful for His ability to deliver us from even the messes we create.
Have a great day KNOWING GOD TRULY KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING!
