Naked Truth!
The naked truth of our lives. God knows it. Everything is “naked and exposed” before Him. ( Hebrews 4:13 ESV) It matters not how or with what we try to cloak ourselves, He knows what truly lies beneath. The pauper could appear as a prince and the prince could in reality be the pauper. It is not the clothes that make the man (or woman), but the substance of the life properly lived.
Someone has said, “Many professing Christians sing, ‘I’m a child of the King,’ but they live impoverished lives.” [source: “sentence sermons”] Do we make the claim, but do not live according to the Name? Are we truly what others are led to believe or are we merely putting on a good show and have maybe even become self-deceived?
Note the warning to the church at Laodicea.
“(15) I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! (16) So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. (17) For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, NOT REALIZING THAT YOU ARE WRETCHED, PITIABLE, POOR, BLIND, AND NAKED.” ( Revelation 3:15-17 ESV)
They made the claim of being rich and in need of nothing when in reality they were spiritual bankrupt. Perhaps both they themselves and the world considered them rich. It is possible to be well off physically and appear to have a lot going for us while in reality be impoverished spiritually? However, it is also possible for the converse to be true.
In contrast, note the picture of the church at Smyrna.
“I know your tribulation and your poverty (BUT YOU ARE RICH) and the slander of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.” ( Revelation 2:9 ESV)
God knows the reality and it is important for us to see it as well! Do we recognize how RICH we are IN CHRIST and how poor we would be without Him? In Him we have the RICHES OF GRACE ( Ephesians 2:7), RICHES OF UNDERSTANDING ( Colossians 2:2), and RICHES described as being UNSEARCHABLE. ( Ephesians 3:8) It is in Christ we can be enriched with EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING. ( Ephesians 1:3) Remember Jesus’ admonition regarding what profit is there for one to gain the whole world and lose their own soul! ( Matthew 16:26) The road to true wealth begins in the willingness to deny self and follow Jesus. ( Matthew 16:24) May we continually bear in mind where TRUE WEALTH is found.
Have a great day TRULY LIVING AS A ROYAL CHILD OF THE KING!
