OUR GOD!

How much time do we spend looking in the mirror? How much trust do we place in our own abilities? How much do we step out and do on our own without having spent some time in prayer? Perhaps the answer to those question will clue us in as to who is truly the recipient of our worship? Where does our confidence and TRUST rest?

Habakkuk recorded these words of God:
“Then they sweep by like the wind and go on, guilty men, WHOSE OWN MIGHT IS THEIR GOD!” ( Habakkuk 1:11 ESV)

Arrogance! Pride! Self-exaltation! Self-glory! Such pushes self to the forefront and leaves God behind! In our country there are those who want the phrase “IN GOD WE TRUST” removed from our currency and other places where those words have been engraved for years. Not all who live in our country do TRUST IN GOD. Instead their TRUST is in the power of man and his politics. However, where has all that gotten us? Why is there much that is not getting better? Because God and His Way have been ignored!

The words of the psalmist still hold true…
“(10) The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples. (11) THE COUNSEL OF THE LORD STANDS FOREVER, the plans of his heart to all generations. (12) BLESSED IS THE NATION WHOSE GOD IS THE LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!” ( Psalm 33:10-12 ESV)

We may not be able to change the politics where we live since not everyone is willing to accept God and His Standards for life. However, by continuing to live with our complete TRUST IN HIM as we strive to live in accordance with His Will, we have the greatest potential to make life better for those around us. May the worship of our life remain centered in God as we keep our TRUST IN HIM, knowing that regardless of what the world does, His counsel still stands!
