It's A Choice!

Moses was chosen to be God’s spokesman to Pharaoh and to the nation of Israel. As Pharaoh hardened his heart ( Exodus 8:32), Israel was not always willing to LISTEN either (note Deuteronomy 1:43), but at times acted presumptuously on their own and experienced the consequences for having done so. God sent His spokesmen the prophets again and again, but their message was many times met by a refusal to LISTEN ( Jeremiah 29:19) and consequences came. Though there are things we may not be able to keep from hearing, LISTENING is another matter. Hearing can just happen, but LISTENING is something we must choose to do. Regardless of how frustrated it might make us feel, those who don’t want to LISTEN won’t (i.e. John 9:27) and cannot be forced to do so.

John stated…
“(4) Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (5) They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. (6) We are from God. WHOEVER KNOWS GOD LISTENS TO US; WHOEVER IS NOT FROM GOD DOES NOT LISTEN TO US. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.” ( 1 John 4:4-6 ESV)

Who we are LISTENING to says something about us and it is important for us to give that serious consideration. Who will LISTEN to us when we talk about the truth of God and salvation in Christ tells us something about them and if there is a refusal to listen, the responsibility of accepting the consequences will be on them and not us. The fault on us would only be if we have not at least tried. (note Ezekiel 33:8-9) Therefore, when we speak, let us be sure what we are sharing is exactly what God has stated in His Word. It is ultimately to Him that all must turn a LISTENING ear. May we be good LISTENERS and seek to provide others with that which is most worth LISTENING to.

Have a great day LIVING ATTENTIVE TO GOD’S WAY AND WILL!
