Inflation and Wages!
Though people get “COST OF LIVING” raises, those increases in income never seem to quite keep up with the rate of inflation. Everything just seems to cost more and more with every year that passes. Wages that were once seen as adequate for a comfortable life are now sometimes viewed as being closer to the poverty level. Some who have thought they were set for a comfortable retirement have found themselves looking for further income. Still, there are people who seem to find the ability to be content with what they have and there is something to be said for learning to live within our means.
There is, however, another side of inflation, poverty and wages that is of utmost importance in being recognized. Inflation associated with people’s view of themselves ( Romans 12:3) can easily puff one up with conceit ( 1 Timothy 6:3-4) and ultimately take them away from the truth. Those who continue to develop an inflated view of themselves tend to leave God and His Will more and more out of the picture as they go their own way pursuing their own desires. In time, these individuals become quite comfortable with where they are, not realizing the spiritual poverty level ( Luke 12:21) to which they have fallen and the wages that will be received. When it comes to the wages of sin, they appear to not be subject to inflation, but remain constant.
Paul warned…
“For THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ( Romans 6:23 ESV)
Sin always has and always will come at a high cost. The wages earned from rebellion toward God and His Will is an eternity of separation from Him and the blessings He desires to provide. It is through our walking with Christ ( 1 John 1:7) in trusting faith, striving to maintain a faithful relationship with Him, that we can receive the gift God desires most to give. ( 2 Peter 3:9) The “COST OF LIVING” ( Luke 14:25-33) for Him now will mean a secure retirement of everlasting life for which to look forward.
Have a great day LIVING WITHIN THE RICHNESS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS!
Carl
