Foolish Anger!

“God, I’m going to ignore what you say, but if things don’t work out in life, you can bet I’m going to blame you.” People may not actually verbalize it in that way, but the sentiment is reflected in the life of some. They will accept the Scriptures that refer to the love of God and expect to be recipients of that love regardless of what they do. Then when following their own way gets them into trouble or produces adverse consequences they wonder why God’s love has failed.

Solomon stated…
“When a man’s folly brings his way to ruin, HIS HEART RAGES AGAINST THE LORD.” ( Proverbs 19:3 ESV)

The New Living Translation reads, “People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the LORD.” (NLT, © 1997)

It makes me think of a child who refuses the help of a parent in putting something together and then gets angry when it doesn’t turn out right. When correct directions are ignored why should there be an expectation for things to work out properly? This is no more true than with regard to spiritual matters and living life in accordance with the right standards.

Things not working out well is not always linked to wrong we have done. There are many variant causes of challenges and misfortune in this life. However, when it is our improper actions that have brought about the bad results, instead of being angry with God we should turn to Him in REPENTANT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of our sin and seek His guidance in returning to the path He would have us take. Experiencing the failure of going our own way can be a good thing if it directs our focus away from our own will to that of God.

God has lovingly provided the best guidance for life possible, but He is not going to force any one to follow His Will. When that Will is disregarded, it is foolish to blame Him when the wrong choices have been made. Rather than getting angry, let us rejoice that the vast distinction between His Way and ours can be seen. Then let us allow a REPENTANT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT to accept His Will so that we may continue to receive the blessings associated with His Way.

Have a great day ADHERING TO GOD’S DIRECTIONS FOR LIFE!
Carl
