Good For...!

Some people have been referred to as “Good for nothing!” I’ve even heard it expressed how some become so heavenly minded they are of no earthly good. It is true our minds need to be set on heavenly things ( Colossians 3:1-2), but our hands and lives are to be involved in good works while we are here. Our aim needs to be above more than simply living good moral lives. We are not simply to be good, but are to be GOOD FOR SOMETHING; especially being of GOOD USE to God for the things He has in mind for us to carry out while we journey in this earthly realm.

In Paul’s second letter to Timothy he exhorted…
“(20) Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. (21) Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be A VESSEL FOR HONORABLE USE, set apart as holy, USEFUL TO THE MASTER of the house, READY FOR EVERY GOOD WORK.” ( 2 Timothy 2:20-21 ESV)

Are we allowing our lives to become a “vessel for HONORABLE USE” in the service of God? God has provided the Scriptures to help equip us for “every good work.” ( 2 Timothy 3:16-17) As we learn His Will more fully are we becoming more and more USEFUL TO HIM as the Master of our life and destiny? Since God obviously valued us enough to send the Son to provide the means of our eternal salvation, let us remain eager and ready for Him to put our lives to GOOD USE for as long as we are here.

Have a great day DOING GOOD FOR GOD’S SAKE AND GLORY!
