Expectations!
We may have some specific expectations for our life. Our parents, teachers, or others may also have certain expectations for us. However, those expectations could be either lazily low or unrealistically high. As we acknowledge God and accept His blessings (both physical and spiritual) we need to keep in mind His expectations regarding what He knows we can become and do. This is something that deserves our most serious consideration. As someone has stated, “The most solemn thing in the world is our accountability to God.” [source: “sentence sermons”]
The Hebrew writer noted…
“And no creature is hidden from his sight, but ALL ARE NAKED AND EXPOSED TO THE EYES OF HIM TO WHOM WE MUST GIVE ACCOUNT.” ( Hebrews 4:13 ESV)
God knows us inside and out. He knows what we “could” do if we “would” and what we “would” do if we “could.” Are we aiming too low or are we seeking to become and do what God desires for our life?
We live in a world where personal accountability is often taken lightly. It is far too easy for people to not follow through either with what they have said they will do or what they are able to offer. Our accountability to God should never be taken lightly. If we don’t live with an acknowledgement of our accountability to God, seeking to maintain a proper relationship with Him, then it becomes a “fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” ( Hebrews 10:31 ESV) All will stand before God’s judgment seat ( Romans 14:10), each one of us giving an ACCOUNT of ourselves. ( Romans 14:12) That is a solemn thing to seriously consider. However, we do not have to face life’s tasks and responsibilities alone. God offers His power and wisdom to aid us in carrying it all out. May we seek to know and live up to His expectations, trusting it can be so on ACCOUNT of His gracious provision of what is necessary to sustain our service to Him and others.
Have a great day AS A SERIOUS SERVANT OF GODLINESS!
