Right Thing And Way!
The manner in which we do things needs to be taken into consideration. With just about everything there can be a wrong way and a right way to do them. However, someone has well stated, “There may be a wrong way to do right, but there is no right way to do wrong.” [source: collection of “sentence sermons”] When it comes to wrong, wrong is just wrong.
In Isaiah we read…
“WOE TO THOSE WHO CALL EVIL GOOD AND GOOD EVIL, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” ( Isaiah 5:20 ESV)
Regardless of the label, if something is wrong it is still wrong. Instead of trying to rationalize sin and wrong as some do, it is to be acknowledged for what it is and avoided. To think there is a right way to do wrong is to be deceived.
John noted…
“(7) Little children, let no one deceive you. WHOEVER PRACTICES RIGHTEOUSNESS IS RIGHTEOUS, AS HE IS RIGHTEOUS. (8) WHOEVER MAKES A PRACTICE OF SINNING IS OF THE DEVIL, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. (9) NO ONE BORN OF GOD MAKES A PRACTICE OF SINNING, for God’s seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God. (10) BY THIS IT IS EVIDENT WHO ARE THE CHILDREN OF GOD, AND WHO ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE DEVIL: WHOEVER DOES NOT PRACTICE RIGHTEOUSNESS IS NOT OF GOD, nor is the one who does not love his brother.” ( 1 John 3:7-10 ESV)
What is it that we are seeking to PRACTICE in our life? Who does what we PRACTICE align us with -- God or the devil? John did not leave room for any straddling of the fence here. When our PRACTICE is to do wrong, then we have brought our life into association with the devil and his PRACTICES. When our PRACTICE is to do right (righteousness) it reveals that we have been born of God and are carrying out His PRACTICES since He is righteous. May that birth be clearly evident in our manner of living.
Have a great day RIGHTLY CARRYING OUT RIGHT!
