Prayer!
How much is prayer a part of your life? Is it what you do in panicked situations (i.e. “God help me!”) or is it a frequent part of daily living?
I don’t always get what I pray for. Have you not experienced the same? Even when I do get what I have prayed for it does not always come in accordance with my timetable. However, none of that causes me to cease praying. The reality that encourages me is that God has blessed me in ways FAR BEYOND MY REQUESTS in prayer. That’s what marks the ability and wisdom of God. ( Ephesians 3:20) Someone has stated, “Nothing lies beyond the reach of prayer except that which lies outside the will of God.” [original source unknown] Do we find encouragement in that?
Jesus exhorted the disciples with the following assurance.
“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ASK WHATEVER YOU WISH, AND IT WILL BE DONE FOR YOU.” ( John 15:7 ESV)
John later encouraged…
“(14) And this is the CONFIDENCE that we have toward him, that IF WE ASK ANYTHING ACCORDING TO HIS WILL HE HEARS US. (15) And if we know that HE HEARS US IN WHATEVER WE ASK, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” ( 1 John 5:14-15 ESV)
The Will of God being done is what we always need to seek. His Will is always best because it takes more into consideration than what we are able to see and understand. As we allow the Word to abide in us we will have some guidance in the making of our prayerful requests. Let us therefore earnestly pray with great anticipation of God fulfilling His Will in our lives FAR BEYOND the desires that might initially prompt the praying.
Have a great day ANTICIPATING THE GLORY OF GOD’S WILL!
