Our Standing!

ALONE, we stand condemned because of our sins. ALONE, we stand incompetent because within ourselves we have limited resources and wisdom. ALONE, we are but a speck among the myriads of people who have lived through the ages. ALONE, we might as well sit down. But we want to stand and we want to have a good standing. We must therefore understand where ALONE that standing must be.

Paul encouraged the church at Rome by noting where they were standing.
“(1) Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. (2) THROUGH HIM WE HAVE ALSO OBTAINED ACCESS BY FAITH INTO THIS GRACE IN WHICH WE STAND, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” ( Romans 5:1-2 ESV)

It is IN CHRIST ALONE that we can stand. It is Jesus Who has made the difference for us because it is through Him we are able to stand in the grace of God. Whoever does not believe in Him stands condemned already. ( John 3:18) Jesus ALONE is the access we have to the Father. ( John 14:6) We must understand that our sufficiency and competency come from God. ( 2 Corinthians 3:5-6) And with Him we are not ALONE.

The Hebrew writer encouraged…
“Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU.’ (6) So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’” ( Hebrews 13:5-6 ESV)

Oh, what confidence we can have because of what God has made possible through the Lord Jesus Christ. He has provided the means for us to be able to stand in God’s grace and by the power of Christ’s blood our standing before God can be one of blamelessness. ( Jude 24) As we continue to stand for the truth of God’s Word, taking on the spiritual armor God has provided so that we can stand firm ( Ephesians 6:13), let us be courageous, knowing we are not standing ALONE!
