Sigh To Song!

Have you ever been walking along and found your pace slowing because you began to think about something that may have perplexed or troubled you with regard to the way life seemed to be going? Then as you continued in your thinking, did your pace pick back up again when you began to focus on other positive things that were taking place in your life? Things come to mind that may cause us to utter a heavy sigh. There are life experiences which can deeply distress and discourage us. However, when we remember God’s timetable is not always the same as ours and that His track record of faithfulness is amazing, that sigh can quickly TURN TO SINGING.

In Psalm thirteen David asked the question, “How long…?” three times within the first two verses. He wondered about God’s mindfulness of him and what he was experiencing in life. He felt forgotten (vs.1) while he sensed his enemy was being exalted. (vs.2) His perspective brought him sorrow. (vs.2) He was shaken (vs.4) and perhaps he was sighing because the situation had shaken the SONG out of his heart. Has our focus ever been there as we observed all the things going on around us? Fortunately David’s view did not remain there. Though we find David wondering some negative thoughts in some of the psalms he wrote, those thoughts always seemed to eventually come back to truth of God that brought back the SONG IN HIS LIFE.

David ended this psalm with these words:
“(5) But I HAVE TRUSTED in your steadfast love; MY HEART SHALL REJOICE in your salvation. (6) I WILL SING TO THE LORD, because he has dealt bountifully with me.” ( Psalm 13:5-6)

I love to SING. SONGS are frequently going through my mind. However, I have had experiences that seemed to take the SONG out of my life, at least for the moment. But, oh the joy of having the SONG return. There is real power gained from maintaining a SONG IN THE HEART. May we continue to keep our eyes on God so that His awesome power and faithfulness can keep the SONG going.

Have a great day IN TUNE WITH GOD FOR A SUSTAINING HEART MELODY!
