Where Messengers Can Be Found!
If you ever wonder about whether or not God can use you to spread His Good News of salvation in Jesus, you might like to know where Jesus found His first missionary. The encounter where Jesus found His first missionary was before the time He sent out the twelve disciples ( Luke 9). It was also before the sending out of the seventy-two ( Luke 10). This encounter was also before Jesus gave His disciples the “Great Commission” to go out into all the world. ( Matthew 28)
The encounter I am referring to is found in Mark 5:1-20. Jesus had arrived in the region of the Gerasenes, after crossing the lake by boat, and was greeted by a man possessed by many demons. This “wild man” could not be controlled and his home became a place among the tombs (a cemetery). After healing the man (an account I encourage you to read) Jesus and His disciples were getting back into the boat when the man, very appreciative of the healing he had received, pleaded with Jesus to let him go with them.
Mark tells us:
“(19) And he did not permit him but said to him, ‘Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.’ (20) And he went away AND BEGAN TO PROCLAIM in the Decapolis HOW MUCH JESUS HAD DONE FOR HIM, and everyone marveled.” ( Mark 5:19-20 ESV)
Did you catch it? Did you notice that Jesus found His first missionary in a cemetery? Can God use you? You bet He can and He wants to if you will let Him. How do you begin? Just go out and start telling people how much Jesus has done for you!
Have a great day OF TESTIMONY TO THE GLORY OF GOD!
Carl
