Journey Of The Heart!
Some people, as they journey toward a destination, may drag their feet because they really don’t want to go. Then there are destinations to which one might run with eagerness because they just can’t get there quick enough. What is the spirit with which we approach our life journey?
Note the following statement from Psalms.
“Blessed are those whose strength is in you, IN WHOSE HEART ARE THE HIGHWAYS TO ZION.” ( Psalm 84:5 ESV)
The New King James Version reads, “…Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.”
Are we dragging our feet with regard to the direction God desires for our life or are we drawn along with a sense of eagerness? Do we ever feel like stopping and remaining just where we are? To what degree is our HEART SET on the journey toward God and the future He has prepared for us?
I’m reminded of the Hebrew writer’s comment regarding the focus of the heroes of faith as they followed the direction of God in their journey through this life.
“(13) These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were STRANGERS AND EXILES ON THE EARTH. (14) For people who speak thus make it clear that they are SEEKING A HOMELAND. (15) If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return. (16) But as it is, they DESIRE A BETTER COUNTRY, that is, A HEAVENLY ONE. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their GOD, for HE HAS PREPARED FOR THEM A CITY.” ( Hebrews 11:13-16 ESV)
The journey toward God and the future He has planned for the redeemed begins with a HEART THAT TURNS from self will to His Will. This turning aids us in remaining receptive to His “HIGH WAYS” ( Isaiah 55:9) rather than being drawn into the world’s “low ways.” Then with a WILLING HEART we are to walk in the path He lays before us. Continuing life’s journey with a HEART OF TRUST that where God leads is always the best route to get us to our journey’s rightful end, let us always bear in mind the truth that we will most be drawn to where our HEART IS FOCUSED. (i.e. Matthew 6:21) May we press on with an EAGER and SINCERE HEART for the journey God has set before us.
Have a great day TRAVELING THE HIGH WAYS OF GOD!
