"ITIES"

Have you ever heard of “ities”? I’m not sure exactly what they might be except they could be something of the past since they have been referred to in the sense of FORMER ones or EARLIER ones being called “prior” “ities”. “PRIOR - ITIES”? “PRIORITIES!” That’s it! That’s what they are -- “priorities”!

Well, now that we have the word right, do we have THEM right? Or are they something of the past?

What do you keep putting first? What is most important to you? School? Work? Band? Chorus? Sports? Recreation? A hobby? A boy friend or girl friend? Food? Travel? Personal recognition or achievements? What? Where is God in connection with your priorities? Where is His church in relation to your priorities? What is it that matters most to you? Are you so caught up in the “urgent” things that you may have forgotten the IMPORTANT things? If you say serving God is your number one priority -- does your life really show it? Take a look at what draws most of your time and attention. Is God really NUMBER ONE in your life?

Jesus said…
“But SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, and all these things will be added to you.” ( Matthew 6:33 ESV)

A charge against the church in Ephesus was that they had forsaken their “FIRST LOVE” ( Revelation 2:4) and thus were told…
“Remember therefore from where you have fallen; REPENT, AND DO THE WORKS YOU DID AT FIRST. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.” ( Revelation 2:5 ESV)

If our priorities are not right, let us return to our devotion to God and our Lord Jesus. Let them remain our FIRST LOVE. In so doing the other things of life will fall into their proper place as well.
