Turning Points!
One of the members of our congregation recently fell and fractured her hip. As I talked with her a couple days ago, she mentioned she was still having some trouble turning to the left. I remarked that what we all need to try to do is keep TURNING TO THE RIGHT. Laughing at my statement, she stated that was what she was trying to do.
As we travel through life and consider the turns which may need to be made, three RIGHT TURNS can get us to the left, but two wrongs still never make a RIGHT! During a lifetime there may be many turning points. It is important to consider the way in which our life is headed. Are we maintaining a course on the RIGHT path?
Solomon referred to those…
“(13) who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness, (14) who rejoice in doing evil and delight in the perverseness of evil, (15) men whose paths are crooked, and who are devious in their ways.” ( Proverbs 2:13-15 ESV)
For some their life seems to be marked by many wrong turns. However, all hope is not lost. Though much time may have been spent in turning the wrong direction, as long as there is life there is opportunity to TURN TO THE RIGHT.
Note the following exhortations of God given through the prophet Ezekiel.
“Again, when a wicked person TURNS away from the wickedness he has committed AND DOES WHAT IS JUST AND RIGHT, he shall save his life.” ( Ezekiel 18:27 ESV)
“Again, though I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ yet if he TURNS from his sin AND DOES WHAT IS JUST AND RIGHT, … (16) None of the sins that he has committed shall be remembered against him. He has DONE WHAT IS JUST AND RIGHT; he shall surely live.” ( Ezekiel 33:14 & 16 ESV)
Similar statements can also be found in Ezekiel 18:21 and 33:19. As long as there is life there is opportunity to make a U-TURN; to repent and TURN TO THE RIGHT way of God. Ezekiel was to be diligent in warning the wicked because it is dangerous to put off the opportunity of turning back to God.
Note David’s prayer.
“LEAD ME, O LORD, IN YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS because of my enemies; MAKE YOUR WAY STRAIGHT BEFORE ME.” ( Psalm 5:8 ESV)
As we continue our journey in this realm, let us continue to TURN TO THE RIGHT, seeking God’s Way of righteousness laid out before us. It is always RIGHT to do RIGHT and live RIGHT and to be doing so RIGHT now! May we continue walking the course God has marked out for us to travel.
Have a great day STAYING ON THE STRAIT AND NARROW WAY! ( Matthew 7:14 KJV)
