The Wicked Before God!

Have you ever dropped a large candle on your toe? Its weight and solid state can cause injury. Have you ever been hit over the head or on the arm with a candle? Though it might break it can still hurt. Getting close enough to a candle for the hot wax to drip on us can cause a burn.

All of this may also be true of our encounters with the WICKed of this world. They may think they are enLIGHTened and are full of BRIGHT ideas, not recognizing the great darkness within them. ( Matthew 6:23). As they live according to their WICKed ways, we may feel the effect of them tromping on our toes as we try to walk in faithfulness to God. We may feel their blows and may even get burned by their actions. However, God will ultimately deal with the WICKed, and before Him they cannot stand.

David wrote…
“As smoke is driven away, so you shall drive them away; AS WAX MELTS BEFORE FIRE, SO THE WICKED SHALL PERISH BEFORE GOD!” ( Psalm 68:2 ESV)

Our God is a consuming fire. ( Hebrews 12:29) He should be approached and worshiped with reverence and awe. ( Hebrews 12:28) When it comes to God’s exceeding glory and wisdom ( Isaiah 55:8-9), mankind cannot hold a candle to Him. Those who continue in their WICKedness before Him will melt away.

David went on to encourage…
“But THE RIGHTEOUS shall be glad; they SHALL EXULT BEFORE GOD; they shall be jubilant with joy!” ( Psalm 68:3 ESV)

Though the WICKed will melt away before God, keeping our faith in Him we can continue to stand strong even in the midst of a WICKed world. As God’s children, seeking to do His Will, we can approach Him with gladness and joy. May we keep the WICK of our faith trimmed and burning, allowing the LIGHT of truth to shine around us.
