Starting Fresh!
In the first verse of the first book of the Bible we read…
“(1) In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” ( Genesis 1:1 ESV)
From there the Scriptures reveal the order in which each facet of the creation took place, each seemingly in preparation for the next phase until finally God brought Adam and Eve into being. ( Genesis 1:27) There, in the beginning of time for life in this universe was the privilege of being placed in a paradise God had prepared for them. ( Genesis 2:8) Then CHOICES WERE MADE, sin was committed, and this paradise was lost. ( Genesis 3:23) However, hope was not lost! In Christ, God has provided the means for paradise to be regained.
We have just begun a New Year. We are pressing on into its first week. This year began on a Sunday; the FIRST DAY of the week. What a wonderful way to begin the New Year with the opportunity for worship and fellowship together. Perhaps we have each focused on a sense of having a fresh start. There may be some specific things we plan to do differently this year. We will be FACED WITH CHOICES. Will the opportunities God brings before us be lost or seized?
We cannot change the past. We can only go on from where we are right now. Each day God provides is the FIRST DAY of the rest of our life and an opportunity for a fresh start. What are we making of it?
Jeremiah encouraged…
“(22) The STEADFAST LOVE OF THE LORD never ceases; HIS MERCIES never come to an end; (23) they ARE NEW EVERY MORNING; great is your faithfulness. (24) ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘therefore I will hope in him.’” ( Lamentations 3:22-24 ESV)
With the beginning of each new day God provides, we have the opportunity to accept HIS STEADFAST LOVE and HIS MERCY. These refreshing blessings should never be taken for granted, but should encourage us to continually seek to please the One Who provides the opportunity to receive them.
God has brought us life. He has provided His commands. He offers His wisdom and guidance. WE CHOOSE whether or not we will accept it all. Are we getting off to a fresh right start?
Have a great day USING THIS FIRST DAY WISELY!
