In The Midst Of Change!
We have just changed from the month of December to the month of January. We have also changed from one year to another. Looking back over the past century (the twentieth) it is easy to see the many changes brought about during that time. However, even during the first five years of this twenty-first century the technological changes have continued to come rapidly. Looking at society we can also note the ongoing change of desires, ideologies, and values.
Change often makes us nervous and sometimes rightly so because not all changes are good. Even when change is good it can frequently makes us uncomfortable. Change does not always come easily because it is far too easy to get ourselves into a rut or become complacent about how our life is at the present.
When things around us are changing there is the need to find something solid to hold onto in order to keep our life from being thrown off balance. It is important to retain a good foundation and sense of direction for life in order to properly navigate through the swirling changes around us. Though many changes will continue to arise there is still A CONSTANT in which we can place our trust.
The Hebrew writer encouraged…
“JESUS CHRIST IS THE SAME YESTERDAY AND TODAY AND FOREVER.” ( Hebrews 13:8 ESV)
When we consider the example of our Lord’s life we should note that in His glory and perfection He doesn’t need to change. If anything needs changing it is for our life to be brought into conformity with His Will. The fact we have a Lord Who is unchanging means we can know what to expect as we study His life and teachings and strive to please Him.
With all the come and go and inconsistency that goes on around us, having our faith centered in Jesus Christ will provide the CONSTANT we need to carry us through. His goals and purposes remain CONSTANT and salvation in Him is still available by the same means it always has. Jesus Christ remains the CONSTANT hope for a world so in need of something of certainty. May we keep our focus fixed on Him as our life and words proclaim an unchanging Christ in this changing world.
Have a great day STABILIZED BY FAITH IN CHRIST!
Carl
