Winter Has Arrived!

Yesterday was the first day of winter. For a couple of weeks now the weather has made it feel like winter had already come, but according to the calendar it has now “officially” begun. Though the weather may not follow the specific dates on the calendar, we still anticipate the fact that winter follows fall which follows summer which follows spring which follows winter. The cycle continues and we live each day prepared for whatever weather may come with the changing seasons.

Following the flood, when Noah offered a sacrifice to God, God said…
“WHILE THE EARTH REMAINS, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, SUMMER AND WINTER, DAY AND NIGHT, SHALL NOT CEASE.” ( Genesis 8:22 ESV)

The fact winter has begun is a sign that for now God intends life here to go on. There is a time coming when the heavens and earth will be destroyed ( 2 Peter 3:7, 10-13), but with each sunrise and every change of the seasons that do come, God declares the opportunity to acknowledge Him and His Will more fully, serve His purposes, and live prepared for the glorious eternity that is to come. The continuation of the cycle He put into place ( Psalm 74:16-17) is a glimpse of God’s great patience and the opportunity for fulfilling His desire for the salvation of lost souls. ( 2 Peter 3:8-9)

Yes, winter has arrived, but we have not. As long as we live let us continue to accept the time God has still granted to grow in our knowledge of His Will, be involved in His work, and press on toward our heavenly goal. May we trust in His power to sustain and bring us through all the seasons of life.

Have a great day EXPERIENCING GOD’S LOVE THOUGH ALL SEASONS!
Carl
