Wandering Here And There!

People FLOCK to all kinds of things. A noise is heard and people FLOCK to the scene to see what is happening. A celebrity comes into town and people FLOCK to where they are with the hope of gaining a glimpse. A sale is advertised and shoppers FLOCK to the store eager to snatch up the bargains. However, in the midst of all of this there is still an aimless wandering. People FLOCK here and there from one thing and one idea to another, but where is the sense of purpose and where is the peace so much desired?

There are many respects in which the world today is no different than the world into which Jesus stepped and walked among mankind. Jesus came face to face with a people described as being “harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd” ( Matthew 9:36 ESV), and He felt compassion for them. He knew how much they were in need of proper leadership and all would be wise to recognize we could be under no better guidance than that which He offers.

The Hebrew writer stated…
“(20) Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead OUR LORD JESUS, THE GREAT SHEPHERD OF THE SHEEP, by the blood of the eternal covenant, (21) equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.” ( Hebrews 13:20-21 ESV)

Are we acknowledging Jesus as the “Great Shepherd” of our life? How strong is our desire to remain in HIS FLOCK? Are we recognizing the great sense of purpose He brings to life and the peace that can be found in the relationship and in fulfilling His Will? With all the things (and ideas) of this life competing for our attention, let us continue to be drawn to Jesus. May we also live in a manner that reveals how truly blessed we are in His care so that others will want to FLOCK to be in HIS FLOCK as well.

Have a great day AS A SHEEP IN HIS FLOCK!
