Letting Your Hair Down!
Letting your hair down! Those of you who have seen me know I don't have much hair to even consider letting down. But that’s not the way we use this expression anyway. It is true we need time to let down and relax. However, it is important to keep in mind things we should never let down on. Are we sometimes more polite toward those who are outside our family than with those within our own home? Do we put up with things from others and then take it out on those at home? Or do we strive to live right in the eyes of the world and give it no thought in our home? If we let down our hair “spiritually speaking” we let down our family, our Lord, and ourselves.
David wrote:
“I will ponder the way that is blameless. Oh when will you come to me? I WILL WALK WITH INTEGRITY OF HEART WITHIN MY HOUSE;” ( Psalm 101:2 ESV)
It is just as important to live according to righteousness in our home as it is outside our home. If there is an inconsistency there, could it be that we have merely put on a show for the world and our religion is not sincere? In our homes we have a place provided to practice and perfect (with the encouragement of our family) the way of living that can help impact this world for Christ.
Have a great day BEING THE LIGHT IN EVERY ROOM!
Carl
