The "Little People" !

Sometimes people move up into a position in society where they are so focused on the praise they are receiving they forget the “little people”. Feeling they are now in a class of their own they no longer have time for those of a lowly stature. After all, they are now too important for such people. Now hobnobbing with the bigwigs and numbered among the “important” people, they have a reputation to uphold and must be careful they do not stoop too low and chance losing the esteem they crave.

How often throughout the history of mankind has their been a struggle with thinking too highly of self? Too many times people have shown themselves to be unable to rightly handle position and power. Like Nebuchadnezzar (note Daniel 4:28-33) and Herod (note Acts 12:20-23) they need to be brought down a few rungs on the ladder to remember they are only human. However, the One Who truly is HIGH AND MIGHTY; the One Who deserves all the praise of all mankind; the One Who has supreme authority as the Sovereign of the universe; the One Who is truly in a class of His own -- He maintains a mindfulness of the humble and lowly who look to Him.

David remarked…
“For THOUGH THE LORD IS HIGH, HE REGARDS THE LOWLY, but the haughty he knows from afar.” ( Psalm 138:6 ESV)

It is mankind’s comparisons that cause a perception problem, but God does not judge by human standards. He does not look down on humanity, but looks upon them to ultimately draw them to Him. He is ever mindful of even the “little people”; those whom mankind might consider insignificant.

In Psalm 113, acknowledging God’s position above the nations and His glory being above the heavens ( Psalm 113:4), the Psalmist went on to state…
“(5) Who is like THE LORD OUR GOD, who is seated on high, (6) who LOOKS FAR DOWN on the heavens and the earth? (7) He RAISES THE POOR from the dust and LIFTS THE NEEDY from the ash heap, (8) to MAKE THEM SIT WITH PRINCES, with the princes of his people. (9) He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. PRAISE THE LORD!” ( Psalm 113:5-9 ESV)

Men and women can quickly rise and fall in the eyes of the world. It is God Who is able to provide a place to truly belong; a place where we can have a sense of family and a feeling of significance like no other the world can offer. And it is all possible because the truly HIGH AND MIGHTY has not forgotten the “little people”. Our significance to Him was displayed through His Willingness to send the Son to give His life for us, providing the adequate means of renewal and eternal salvation. May we allow Him to have the significance in our life He deserves and we need as we trust Him to do the exalting He desires to provide.

Have a great day ENCOURAGED BY THE SIGNIFICANCE WE HAVE TO GOD!
Carl
