Making Noise!
We are surrounded by all kinds of noise today. There is even concern with regard to what has been called “noise pollution.” Many communities have noise ordinances. Some people wear ear protection when working around loud engines or machines. There is music loved by some that is considered noise by others. When issues arise that some people want to draw attention to they make noise about it. (Remember the proverbial “squeaky wheel gets the grease”.) Perhaps there is no getting around some of the noise that goes on in this world. However, we can choose what kind of noise we can become known for making. For what kind of noise should we desire to be noted?
The psalmist suggested…
“(1) MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE TO THE LORD, all the earth! SERVE THE LORD WITH GLADNESS! Come INTO HIS PRESENCE WITH SINGING!” ( Psalm 100:1-2 ESV)
It is what God hears in our life which ought to be of the greatest concern to us. Does He hear a JOYFUL noise ringing out from our life? What could generate such? Perhaps we would acknowledge our singing of heartfelt praise and thanksgiving could be the JOYFUL sound heard by our God. Is our praise restrained or does it naturally well up JOYFULLY from within us as we reflect on how blessed we are by God?
Could the JOYFUL noise be the sound of humble and willing service as well? Is our service to the glory of God done grudgingly or with a sincere song on our heart and praise on our lips for the opportunities to share? Is there a gladness evident in the manner in which we go about daily life? Is there something about us that can be seen as different because we are constantly mindful of the One Who gives us every reason for JOY for not only this life, but also for an eternity?
To recognize God as the Giver and Sustainer of life is what all throughout the earth need to learn to acknowledge. Perhaps our own JOYFULNESS as we go through life can help draw the attention of those around us to that truth. If we are going to make some noise, may it be a JOYFUL sound that rings even in the ears of God.
Have a great day BEING HEARD IN GLORIOUS WAYS!
Carl
