Living And Active!
Being alive is more than just existing. Paul noted the self-indulgent as being dead even while they still lived. ( 1 Timothy 5:6) As the blood pressure and pulse are taken to reveal the VITAL SIGNS of physical life, the way we live and act reveals what is going on within us spiritually. Whether or not we are truly living is dependent on what foundation we are building our life upon.
The Hebrew writer stated…
“For THE WORD OF GOD IS LIVING AND ACTIVE, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” ( Hebrews 4:12 ESV)
With the reference to soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and the thoughts and intentions of the heart, we should recognize how God’s Word is practical for all of life: spiritual, physical, and intellectual. If we have taken the “living and active” word within, our life should be marked as being “living and active” in accordance with the Word’s power within. When we allow the word to be “living and active” within us, our life will be “living and active” to the glory and praise of God.
The Scriptures are more than words printed on a page. God’s Word contains the power to bring life where there has been deadness. It provides hope where there has been despair. It brings stability where life has been out of balance. It produces renewal where the decay of sinfulness has been taking place. However, in order for this to occur, God’s Word must be allowed to be “living and active” in our life. It is only then that our life can also be in truth, “living and active”.
What do our spiritual VITAL SIGNS indicate? Are we anemic? Are we stressed? Is our immune system down? Or are we strong with the blood of Jesus and the “living and active” Word of God running through our veins? May the vitality they bring be revealed through a “living and active” exercise of faith and obedience to God in our daily life.
“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be IN GOOD HEALTH, AS IT GOES WELL WITH YOUR SOUL.” ( 3 John 2 ESV)
Have a great day VERY MUCH ALIVE TO GOD!
Carl
