AMEN!

The Greek word “amen” is actually transliterated from the Hebrew word and therefore, between the Greek and Hebrew they sound the same. The Hebrew meaning of the word focuses on certainty, truthfulness, and faithfulness. The word carries the idea of “it is and shall be so” or “so be it.” Any association of this idea with God should bolster our FAITH.

Do we understand the sense of FAITH associated with stating “amen”? When we say “amen” at the end of a prayer do we view it as the period or exclamation mark at the end of a long list of requests or do we recognize the “amen” as a willingness to submit to the Will and Wisdom of God in whatever way He sees fit to respond to our prayer? How much do we truly TRUST Him? When we say “amen” as the Word of God is read and proclaimed from the pulpit, is it simply a statement to encourage the preacher to preach on or is it our own declaration that we believe God and are ready to follow His Will? Do we have a FAITH that is eager to accept and put into practice whatever God has said?

Someone has asserted, “Faith is saying amen to God.” [source: list of sentence sermons] Perhaps we frequently use the word, but does the way we live our life declare it as well? Not only should we be willing to say “amen” with our lips, but also with our life!

Paul encouraged regarding what we have in Christ when he stated…
“For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that WE UTTER OUR AMEN TO GOD for his glory.” ( 2 Corinthians 1:20 ESV)

The giving of Jesus was one of the ways in which God has clearly revealed He has our best interests always in mind. Since He has given us His Son, why should we wonder with regard to other blessings He has promised? (note Romans 8:32) God is faithful. He is truthful. We can be certain with regard to what He has declared. If we are in Christ -- the glorious realm of God’s resounding “YES” -- our entire being ought to utter our “amen” to God. Let it be so!

Have a great day LIVING AN “AMEN” TO GOD!
