Alliance & Reliance! (3 of 3)

When an alliance is formed it will be made evident through properly focusing on the SOVEREIGN POWER. Who (or what) is the SOVEREIGN POWER in our life? Self? Our possessions? Our nation’s government? The world’s applause? Or is God and His Will the supreme rule for our daily life? If we acknowledge God as our life’s SOVEREIGN POWER, how do we demonstrate our alliance with and our reliance upon Him?

Note the focus urged by Solomon.
“(5)TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, and do NOT LEAN ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING. (6) In ALL YOUR WAYS ACKNOWLEDGE HIM, and he will make straight your paths. (7) Be NOT WISE IN YOUR OWN EYES; FEAR THE LORD, and TURN AWAY FROM EVIL. (8) It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.” ( Proverbs 3:5-8 ESV)

Did you note six ways in which alliance with God and reliance upon Him ought to be demonstrated in our life? Let us personally consider the following questions regarding these six things.

[1] Does our life display a wholehearted trust in God? “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.”

[2] Are we leaning and supporting our life on His wisdom rather than depending on our own understanding? “Do not lean on your own understanding.”

[3] In all that we do and say is it with an acknowledgment of God in mind, constantly considering what is glorifying and pleasing to Him? “In all your ways acknowledge Him.”

[4] Are we remaining humble enough to rely on God’s guidance and instruction for each day? Do not be “wise in your own eyes.”

[5] Do we maintain a reverential awe for God and the power that is His to exercise? “Fear the Lord.”

[6] Are we keeping our face toward God, continually turning away from that which is evil and out of character with our Christian walk? “Turn away from evil.”

To properly focus on these things and live in accordance with that focus will demonstrate God to truly be the SOVEREIGN POWER in our life! Living under His authority provides the greatest benefits and privileges we could ever possess. Let us maintain our unity with Him and His Will; living as good citizens ( Philippians 3:20) of the Heavenly Kingdom.

Have a great day LIVING AS A PRIVILEGED CITIZEN OF GOD’S ETERNAL KINGDOM!
