Breaking Ground!

What would you think if ground was broken for the building of a structure, but the structure was never built? Would you think someone may have begun a work without first counting the cost to see if they were able to finish? (i.e. Luke 14:28-29) Or what would you think if you watched a farmer break ground in his fields; plowing and making long straight furrows as if preparing to plant a crop, but never planted anything? If you saw the farmer plowing the next day and the next and the next would you perhaps think he enjoyed preparing the ground but not planting or reaping?

God, through Isaiah, declared…
“(23) Give ear, and hear my voice; give attention, and hear my speech. (24) DOES HE WHO PLOWS FOR SOWING PLOW CONTINUALLY? DOES HE CONTINUALLY OPEN AND HARROW HIS GROUND? (25) When he has leveled its surface, does he not scatter dill, sow cumin, and put in wheat in rows and barley in its proper place, and emmer as the border? (26) For he is rightly instructed; his God teaches him.” ( Isaiah 28:23-26 ESV)

When we consider everything God has begun we should note that He has anticipated FRUIT. What He has done was not just to be doing something, but done with an ultimate purpose in mind. There are often many steps in bringing something to completion, but just as ground is broken in preparation for building a structure and planting a field, so is there an end God has in mind for our having begun to live. That end includes FRUIT; FRUIT that glorifies God. The expectation is not for us to simply continue to make preparation, but for a life to be built and righteous FRUIT to be produced.

The Hebrew writer scolded those to whom he wrote for not having grown. ( Hebrews 5:11-13) Though sufficient time had passed, they were still in need of the basics. When we became Christians our life was broken (crucified, Galatians 5:24) as we turned in submission to Christ and the expectation of God is for the FRUIT of the Spirit to be produced in our life. ( Galatians 5:22-23) God is able to bring the work He has begun in us to completion. (note Philippians 1:6) May we remain open to being “rightly instructed” by God, allowing Him to teach us that He may receive a harvest in association with the life He has provided for us.

Have a great day WITH RIPENING RIGHTEOUSNESS RISING IN OUR LIFE!
