Battle For Minds!

There is a raging battle for the minds of mankind. The great difficulty, however, is that many held CAPTIVE by certain thoughts do not realize how imprisoned they are. “Opinions” are based on personal preferences and information available and should be open to change when more information brings further clarification. However, some in their stubbornness, resist such change. There are many “opinions” held that are contrary to what God has revealed in His Word.

When “opinions” have a firm grip on us it is difficult to change the thinking when new information or clearer truth is presented. On the other hand, when it comes to truth we do need to allow it to CAPTIVATE our thinking and use it as the filter for everything else. We must be cautious regarding what we allow to take our mind CAPTIVE. Some being held CAPTIVE by their opinions may think they are free to hold them, but do not realize how imprisoned they have become. It is truth that truly sets us free. ( John 8:32)

Paul warned the church at Colosse…
“See to it that no one takes you CAPTIVE BY PHILOSOPHY and EMPTY DECEIT, according to HUMAN TRADITION, according to the ELEMENTAL SPIRITS OF THE WORLD, and not according to Christ.” ( Colossians 2:8 ESV)

Such things are still taking the minds of many CAPTIVE today. What we need is something more powerful to CAPTIVATE our thinking so that we can be protected from these other things coming to drag us away.

Paul, noting the struggle, encouraged…
“(4) For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments (5) and EVERY LOFTY OPINION raised against the knowledge of God, and TAKE EVERY THOUGHT CAPTIVE TO OBEY CHRIST,” ( 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 ESV)

May the Word of Christ be so instilled within us that we cannot be dragged away from Him or the truth. For us to remain safe and on the right track, whatever does not fit with the truth of Jesus needs to be rejected. Let us continue to be CAPTIVATED by His life and teaching.
