A Good Education!
Getting a good education is important. It is often the experience that learning comes easier at an early age than in later years. Therefore it is important to apply ourselves to the task of learning, being GOOD STUDENTS while receiving instruction. Getting a good solid education is vital to the eventual finding of a good job, being able to live a comfortable life, support a family, and even be of assistance to others in need. The manner in which we approach our learning now can have considerable impact on how things will work out for us in the future. How serious are we about our education?
Though a secular education is important for life in our society today, being GOOD STUDENTS with regard to spiritual matters is of even greater significance since it not only relates to life now, but also to eternity. Our education in spiritual matters is to be a lifelong pursuit. The importance of familiarity with God’s commands was emphasized as a family responsibility for the nation of Israel. (Note Deuteronomy 6:7-9) It ought to be a daily thing for us as well.
Paul warned…
“(3) For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears THEY WILL ACCUMULATE FOR THEMSELVES TEACHERS TO SUIT THEIR OWN PASSIONS, (4) and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.” ( 2 Timothy 4:3-4 ESV)
This is good reason for us to be GOOD STUDENTS of the Word, lest we be led astray. The “degree” to which we pursue that knowledge and apply it to our daily lives is of eternal significance. Consider the following degrees we should seek to possess:
A.A. -- Always Amazed (at what God can do with and through us if we let Him)
A.S. -- Assured of Salvation (by remaining in Christ)
B.A. -- Bible Affirmer
B.S. -- Bible Sharer
M.A. -- Master’s Assistant (servant of God)
M.S. -- Master of Service.
M.B.A. -- Master’s Business Activity (being about the Father’s business)
Ph.D. -- Phileo Degree (brotherly love)
D.D. -- Devoted till Death (to God and His Will)
D.D.S. -- Doer of Deeds and Service (all to His glory)
It is the GOOD STUDENTS of God who are the truly enlightened ones. May we faithfully continue the pursuit of His Will, applying His Word in our daily lives as we recognize the “Higher Education” He provides.
Have a great day PREPARING FOR GOD’S HONOR ROLL!
Carl
