Vision To Love!

It has been said that love is blind. This must be true since I have seen so many people stumbling around in love not knowing how to maintain proper relationships. I know the statement about love being blind is generally a reference to a love that is able to accept while overlooking flaws or disregarding another’s race or social status. There is great power in such a pure love. However, there is also a sense in which love helps us SEE MORE CLEARLY to properly express love and act in loving ways.

John wrote…
“(10) WHOEVER LOVES HIS BROTHER ABIDES IN THE LIGHT, and in him there is NO CAUSE FOR STUMBLING. (11) But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.” ( 1 John 2:10-11 ESV)

John asserted it is the lack of love that is blinding. A world without love would be a very dark place. The one who does not know how to properly love does not even know where they are going because of the blinding darkness in which they live. Genuine love helps to keep all relationships in proper perspective, enabling us to SEE MORE CLEARLY and not stumble.

As we look at the life of Jesus we should be able to SEE CLEARLY what genuine love is all about. Also, when the characteristics Paul listed in his letter to the church at Corinth ( 1 Corinthians 13:4-8) are taken to heart we will be helped to SEE MORE CLEARLY how to love in practical ways that will build up and sustain proper relationships. May we allow God’s concept of love to open our eyes as we daily interact with others.

Have a great day WITH EYES OPENED BY A PURE OPEN HEART!
