The Unworthy! (3 of 3)

Many in this world think they are worthy to decide who is worthy and who is not. The manner in which they treat others reflects their view. Jesus was the most worthy individual to walk the face of this earth, and how was He treated? Much of the Jewish leadership viewed Him as a problem that needed to be removed from their presence. (note John 11:45-53)

The Hebrew writer spoke of men and women of faith who, in spite of their faithfulness to God, were not treated well at all. This WORLD became a hostile place for them to dwell. Have we experienced such?

Note part of the Hebrew writer’s list.
“(36) Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. (37) They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated -- (38) OF WHOM THE WORLD WAS NOT WORTHY -- wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.” ( Hebrews 11:36-38 ESV)

These heroes of faith were treated shamefully by a WORLD that the Hebrew writer stated was not worthy of them. Even as we live in a WORLD that is unworthy (self included) of the hope God has extended, we can still live in a worthy manner. (note Colossians 1:9-10) Are we seeking to live worthy of the WORLD or worthy of God? Do we recognize how we are to be in the world, but not of it? ( John 17:14-15) Faith helps us turn away from the world’s approval to seek God’s praise.

The WORLD may treat our values and the truth of God we uphold as being unworthy of their acceptance. Nevertheless, as long as we are here there is opportunity to influence the world’s attention toward God and His standard which is of eternal consequence. As we live faithful to the Will of God, let us be encouraged that someday we will be removed from this WORLD to be transported to the worthy place He has prepared for us to spend eternity. It will surely be worth our having faithfully endured the short span of life lived in this realm.

Have a great day LIVING FOR THE REALM THAT AWAITS US!
