The Walking!
Some people don’t pay attention to where they are walking. Others have had the experience of sleep walking. Note the kind of walking Paul reminded the Ephesian Christians that once marked their life.
He wrote…
“And you were DEAD IN THE TRESPASSES AND SINS in which you ONCE WALKED, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience.” ( Ephesians 2:1 ESV)
At one time they were the “walking dead.” They were moving about and involved in various activities, but as far as the salvation of the souls was concerned, they were “walking dead”, separated from God. However, when they accepted the message of salvation in Christ they were made alive in Christ. ( Ephesians 2:5) Now, did that mean they were then to be the “sitting alive”?
It is not enough for us to simply stop doing the things that are wrong. The WORKS which marked our life when we were the “walking dead” are to be replaced with WORKS that reveal the essence of our being alive in Christ. We are to pay attention to where we are walking and what we are doing along the way.
Paul went on to state…
“For we are his workmanship, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS FOR GOOD WORKS, which God prepared beforehand, that WE SHOULD WALK IN THEM!” ( Ephesians 2:10 ESV)
The transition is to be one of moving from being the “walking dead” to being the “walking in good WORKS” which God had in mind for us even before we were His to do them. May we commit ourselves to daily walking in the WORKS which glorify God and reveal we are alive to be His servants to carry out His Will.
Have a great day WALKING LIVELY FOR GOD!
