Reasonable Faith!

All the things you and I may plan don’t always work out or get fulfilled. Sometimes that is a good thing since all our plans may not be what God has in mind. Nevertheless, what do we know when it comes to God’s plans?

After Job had gone through his great trials, faced the accusations of his friends, and then finally had the opportunity to hear from God Himself, His faith in God appears to have become even stronger than it was at first. Job had continued to earnestly seek God and in the end he was willing to accept even that which he could not understand. God’s ways and wisdom were above him, but Job was safe in placing his life in the hands of God.

Following God’s final statements to Job we read…
“(1) Then Job answered the Lord and said: ‘(2) I KNOW THAT YOU CAN DO ALL THINGS, AND THAT NO PURPOSE OF YOURS CAN BE THWARTED. (3) ‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.’” ( Job 42:1-3 ESV)

Job was willing to admit his limitations when it came to understanding the ways of God. However, did you note what Job had come to know about God? Anything God intends to do He will do and there is no one and nothing that can possibly thwart His purposes!

As I consider some of those in the world who seem bent on carrying out evil, I always pray that their plans will be thwarted. However, at the same time, I am encouraged that God’s plans and purposes SHALL STAND! (note also Proverbs 19:21) Regardless of what mankind may do, the plans of God WILL ULTIMATELY PREVAIL. We can see that clearly with regard to the fulfillment of prophecy after prophecy from the Old Testament to the New Testament. In every detail God has brought His plans to fulfillment and His track record should encourage us that He will continue to do so.

Like Job (and his friends) we may not have a good explanation regarding the existence of good and evil and how bad and good happen to both the just and unjust alike. However, like Job we can come to know that ultimately the plans of God STAND FIRM and will be completely brought to fulfillment. It is therefore reasonable to continue seeking after God in Whom we can be assured that victory over evil will be the final outcome.

Have a great day ENCOURAGED BY GOD’S INFALLIBLE RECORD!
Carl
