A Sweet Tooth!

Some TASTES just don’t go together. Have you ever brushed your teeth and then taken a drink of orange juice? The TASTE combination does not go together very well. I’m sure there are not many of us who do not like chocolate cake? However, I also love grapefruit juice, but have you ever used grapefruit juice to wash down chocolate cake? Yuck! That’s what a cold glass of milk is for!

Sometimes we get a TASTE in our mouth we wish to savor. We don’t want it to go away. When we enjoy a TASTE in this way it often encourages us to avoid other things that don’t go well with what we have already TASTED. While we recognize this in a physical sense should we not also acknowledge it spiritually?

As David declared the law of the Lord to be perfect, sure, right, pure, clean, and true, ( Psalm 19:7-9) he went on to state…
“More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine told; SWEETER ALSO THAN HONEY AND DRIPPINGS OF THE HONEYCOMB.” ( Psalm 19:10 ESV)

When God’s Word is TASTED to be even sweeter than honey to us, that TASTE should help us to sense the bitter, sour, and un-complementary TASTES of the ideas and ways of the world. The more we continue taking in His sweet word, the more we will not desire other things.

If we are going to possess a “sweet tooth” let it be for the sweet words of God. ( Psalm 119:103) The more frequently we consume God’s Word, the more we will sense the yuck factor in relation to the temptations this world offers. May we continually receive the abundant mouthwatering morsels He provides.

Have a great day APPRECIATING THE SCRUMPTIOUSNESS OF SCRIPTURE!
