A Friend of Truth!

Some people seem to have difficulty with the TRUTH. For some TRUTH about themselves may seem awful. Others don?t like to face up to TRUTH that means they have to change their lifestyle. There are also those who will take the TRUTH and twist it or sugarcoat it in an attempt to make it acceptable to a broader audience. However, the thing that really needs to be acknowledged is that TRUTH is TRUTH. TRUTH remains whether it is accepted by all or not.

As Paul stated to the church at Corinth? "For we cannot do anything against the truth, but ONLY FOR THE TRUTH." ( 2 Corinthians 13:8 ESV)

Are we an "offender" or "befriender" of TRUTH? What is revealed by our use of it?

Pilate asked Jesus the question, "What is TRUTH"? ( John 18:38) Jesus was the TRUTH ( John 14:6) standing right in front of Him. However, as Paul stated, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ ( Philippians 3:18) and therefore of the TRUTH regarding Him. The TRUTH in Jesus ( Ephesians 4:21) must be acknowledged.

The Galatians had welcomed Paul and the message of salvation in Christ as if he had been an angel of God or Jesus Himself. ( Galatians 4:14) Then they were led astray from the TRUTH. Paul wrote his letter to them to bring their focus back to the sufficiency of their relationship to Christ for salvation rather than becoming enslaved to the law.

As Paul tried to redirect them back to what he had taught them he asked?
"HAVE I THEN BECOME YOUR ENEMY BY TELLING YOU THE TRUTH"? ( Galatians 4:16 ESV)

I saw a bumper sticker the other day which read: "Friends Don't Let Friends Go To Hell!" Have we befriended the TRUTH? If so, are we a friend enough to share that TRUTH with others who need to hear it? May we continue to live by the TRUTH and share the TRUTH of Jesus. Though some may view us as an enemy, a time will come when we will be revealed to have been the TRUEST friend one could possibly have; a friend both willing to speak and to live the TRUTH as it is in Jesus.
