Walk In Confidence! (part 1 of 2)
There are a lot of things questioned in this life and rightly so. It is good to ask questions and be sure of what we believe and build our life upon. However, there is the need to come to grips with the truth and be DECISIVE in the acceptance of it. There are choices we must make and affirmations our life must be willing to express. When the prophet Elijah was on Mt. Carmel preparing for a great contest between himself and the prophets of Baal, he asked a question that demanded a DECISIVE response.
We read…
“And Elijah came near to all the people and said, “HOW LONG WILL YOU GO LIMPING BETWEEN TWO DIFFERENT OPINIONS? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” And the people did not answer him a word.” ( 1 Kings 18:21 ESV)
Limping between two different opinions! Other translations have “waver” (NIV), “falter” NKJV), or “halt” (KJV); all of which implies no progress. Whether or not one believes in God and is willing to follow Him is of the highest consequence of all things. Are we limping or have we been DECISIVE in accepting the reality of God’s existence to the extent we can walk in confidence regardless of what others might do or say?
Following the great chapter of heroes of faith ( Hebrews 11), the Hebrew writer exhorted…
“(12) Therefore LIFT YOUR DROOPING HANDS and STRENGTHEN YOUR WEAK KNEES, 13) and MAKE STRAIGHT PATHS FOR YOUR FEET, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.” ( Hebrews 12:12-13 ESV)
God has revealed Himself, made known the truth of His Will, and has held out His precious promises to encourage us to walk on with great confidence in Him. We need to live in a way that reveals DECISIVELY we believe in God. May we allow the reality of His existence and the eternal hope He offers strengthen our hands for service to His cause and our knees to stand strong while we continue to walk in faithfulness to Him.
Have a great day EXHIBITING A FIRM FAITH IN GOD!
