Key To Victory!

Many times through the Scriptures we find God used a minority to stand victoriously against a majority. (i.e. compare Judges 7:16 with 8:10) The might of men does not always make right. Majority does not always lead in a right direction. Simply following the majority is not wise as Jesus illustrated when contrasting the broad and narrow ways and their respective destinations. ( Matthew 7:13-14) The key to victory is RELIANCE ON GOD!

Note the truth Hezekiah used to encourage the people in the face of conflict.
“(7) ‘Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or dismayed before the king of Assyria and all the horde that is with him, for THERE ARE MORE WITH US THAN WITH HIM. (8) With him is an arm of flesh, but WITH US IS THE LORD OUR GOD, to help us and to fight our battles.’ And the people took confidence from the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.” ( 2 Chronicles 32:7-8
ESV)

The horde of Assyria was set against the few of Judah. In his pride, Sennacherib (king of Assyria) boasted of how the gods of all the other nations had been no match for him and his forces. ( 2 Chronicles 32:13-14) However, it was not the comparison of numbers of fighting men, but rather GOD being with His people that tipped the balance in Judah’s favor.

In a vision the prophet Zechariah received regarding the work of Zerubbabel (which took place during the days of Ezra following the return from exile), what would take place would be possible “…Not by might, nor by power, BUT BY MY SPIRIT, says the LORD of hosts.” (Zecharaiah 4:6 ESV) The times God’s people struggled most were when He was left out of the equation. Is it not the same in our own life?

Let us remember, as we continue to stand up for that which is right in the eyes of God, even when we seem to be outnumbered, placing our RELIANCE ON GOD in reality makes us to be more than our foes. Whether the feeling of being outnumbered is experienced in the classroom, in the workplace, or in society at large, remember that the “arm of flesh” is ultimately no match for the arm of the Lord. The key is not us, but rather His being with us. May we remain with Him in order to receive the strength to continue standing firm for all that is right!

Have a great day REMEMBERING NO FOE CAN OUTMATCH OUR GOD!
