Having Been Consecrated! (3 of 3)
Having been consecrated implies we are to even be willing TO SUFFER as we stand steadfast in our relationship with Christ. When we commit ourselves to Him and His Will why should it surprise us to be treated as He was treated? Those who accept Him will accept us while those who reject Him will also reject us. The more we are like Him the more this will be true.
The Hebrew writer exhorted…
“(12) So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood. (13) Therefore let us GO TO HIM outside the camp AND BEAR THE REPROACH HE ENDURED.” ( Hebrews 13:12-13 ESV)
Peter also encouraged…
“(12) Beloved, DO NOT BE SURPRISED at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, AS THOUGH SOMETHING STRANGE WERE HAPPENING to you. (13) But REJOICE INSOFAR AS YOU SHARE CHRIST’S SUFFERINGS, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.” ( 1 Peter 4:12-13 ESV)
To seek to live a holy life in Christ will not always be well received in the midst of an unholy world. We should not be surprised when we find ourselves SUFFERING the same rejection and ridicule our Lord faced. Nevertheless, He suffered for us, leaving us with an example that we should continue following in His steps. ( 1 Peter 2:21) Such will be a mark of a people consecrated to Him. The Apostles rejoiced “that they were counted worthy TO SUFFER dishonor for the name” of Jesus. ( Acts 5:41) May we also rejoice to be recognized as His!
Have a great day WILLING TO ENDURE FOR THE SAKE OF JESUS!
