Change One Or The Other!
It was reported that Alexander the Great singled out one of his soldiers who was accused of cowardice.
"What's your name?" Alexander snapped.
"My name is Alexander, Sir." came the reply.
"Well, change your life or change your name."
When we think about our own families we know we want our family name to be honorable. We don't want people to hear our family name and immediately think, "Oh, them! Ya, I've heard about them!"
But do we give the same consideration to the impact our actions have on the family of believers -- the church? After all, as Christians, we wear the name of Christ and some people are going to base their view of Christ on how they see His family living!
Peter wrote…
“(14) If you are insulted for the NAME OF CHRIST, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. …. (16) Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him GLORIFY GOD IN THAT NAME.” ( 1 Peter 4:14 & 16 ESV)
If our life is not honoring Christ then maybe we should not wear that name. The choice boils down to this: either change the life or change the name!
Let our lives reflect honorably on the NAME OF CHRIST!
Have a great day BRINGING GLORY TO HIS NAME!
Carl
