Things Not Always As Seen!
There was a farmer driving along a winding country road who had to suddenly swerve and stop to keep from being hit by a woman coming around a curve on the wrong side of the road. Before he had a chance to yell at her, she stuck her head out the window of her car and shouted, “Pig!” Furious, the farmer yelled back, “OLD SOW!” and began driving on. Rounding the next curve he slammed on his brakes. There in the middle of the road stood the largest pig he’d ever seen.
Coming to the wrong conclusion with regard to what seems to be can be quite embarrassing. Oh, how sheepish this farmer must have felt upon recognizing his misunderstanding of the warning regarding a pig. However, holding the wrong perspective can also be deadly in either a physical or (more drastically) a spiritual sense.
Solomon cautioned…
“There is a way that SEEMS RIGHT to a man, BUT ITS END IS THE WAY TO DEATH.” ( Proverbs 14:12 ESV)
And…
“There is a way that SEEMS RIGHT to a man, BUT ITS END IS THE WAY TO DEATH.” ( Proverbs 16:25 ESV)
Yes, Solomon’s warning was recorded twice. It is worth repeating. Choosing our own path there is no telling what we will find around the corner. Too many people have chosen a way that seems good and right to them, not realizing the dangers that lay along the way and the ultimate destiny to which it leads.
Solomon encouraged…
“IN THE PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IS LIFE, AND IN ITS PATHWAY THERE IS NO DEATH.” ( Proverbs 12:28 ESV)
It is of paramount importance for us to continually seek to be certain THE WAY we have chosen is THE WAY of God. It is only THE WAY of God that is THE WAY of life! His WAY leads through abundant living ( John 10:10) now and eternal life to come. Let us be careful regarding “what seems” and diligently seek to know “what is” as God has revealed it. THE WAY of God will always prove right!
Have a great day REMAINING IN THE PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS!
