The Steam!

It is often counter-PRODUCTIVE when we get steamed at others and vent it. However, when we consider the idea of “getting up steam” to do something, that is usually an indication something PRODUCTIVE is going to take place.

Someone has said, “There is a lot of difference between getting up steam and being full of hot air.” [source: “1600 Squibs And Quips”, compiled by E.C. McKenzie]

Getting up steam must be more than mere talk of what we can or could do. When someone continually makes boasts with no follow through it is a sign they are only full of hot air, possessing no apparent power to motivate PRODUCTIVITY.

Solomon stated…
“Like clouds and wind without rain is a man who BOASTS OF A GIFT HE DOES NOT GIVE.” ( Proverbs 25:14 ESV)

Just as it would be frustrating for a farmer to continue to see clouds coming and get no rain for the crops, so it is when people make various boasts and do not follow through. Whether it be an actual gift or the gift of our time and energy, to be all talk and no action benefits no one.

Christianity is to be a life of action, not passive belief. James indicated faith is made evident by our works. ( James 2:18-22) Our religion must be more than mere words.

Note James illustration of the need to go beyond words.
“(15) If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, (16) and one of you SAYS to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and filled,’ WITHOUT GIVING them the things needed for the body, WHAT GOOD IS THAT? (17) So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” ( James 2:15-17 ESV)

There is much that is to accompany our faith to aid us in living effective and PRODUCTIVE lives to the glory of God. (note 2 Peter 1:5-8) As we continue in our Christian walk we must get up steam for daily godly living in service to others. May the fire of our faith continue to build up steam to motivate us toward a PRODUCTIVE demonstration of a deep and abiding faith in God and His Will. If we are going to get all steamed up about (or by) something, let it be in actions committed to the glory of our God.

Have a great day EFFECTIVELY POWERED BY FAITH’S FIRE!
