Sowing with a Harvest in Mind!

This time of year many people are tilling and planting their gardens. Seeds have been selected and a harvest is anticipated. Such should also be associated with regard to our outlook on life. As we go along our way there is sowing being done of which a harvest will someday be gained. We do need to be mindful, however, of sowing the right stuff. (note Galatians 6:7-8)

Paul encouraged the church at Corinth…
“He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the HARVEST OF YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.” ( 2 Corinthians 9:10 ESV)

Paul had been encouraging the Corinthian brethren to have a proper attitude in giving to meet the needs of Christians in Judea. He had also pointed out God’s abounding grace in sufficiently providing what was necessary for them to ABOUND IN GOOD WORKS. ( 2 Corinthians 9:8) While prompting these Christians to be generous, Paul reminded them of God’s provision and continued provision as a basis for their generosity. As one gives (whether it be money, time, energy, etc.), thankfulness for what God has provided and faith in His future provision are to be the basis of the willingness. Taking our blessings for granted and possessing a lack of faith may cause us to withhold from others feeling it must be horded away for self.

Remember Jesus’ encouragement with regard to doing the right things.
“(37) Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; (38) give, and it will be given to you. GOOD MEASURE, PRESSED DOWN, SHAKEN TOGETHER. RUNNING OVER, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” ( Luke 6:37-38 ESV)

When seed is sown, the harvest amounts to more than what was sown. The same is true spiritually. Like investing in a bank is done with a view toward greater dividends in return, so our investing in service to the glory of God ultimately brings greater blessing from Him. May God’s manifold provision prompt generosity on our part with a view toward a RIGHTEOUS harvest He will provide.

Have a great day EXPERIENCING THE BLESSINGS OF GENEROSITY!
Carl
