Plan Stands!
It has been noted that you can please all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time. (Perhaps politicians know this more than anyone.) When some don’t get their way they will often fuss and protest and whine until their desires are given into. Some special interest groups even verbalize that they will continue to come back until they get their way. Wearied of the continued return, quite often those of whom the demands are made cave in and finally grant them. It is a mistake, however, to think this is the way with God. We must guard against supposing God (the “I AM”) to be like man. ( Psalm 50:21) To that end someone has pointed out, “Some people are conceited enough to think God changes His plans and purposes to suit their opinions and practices.” [source: list of “sentence sermons”]
The Hebrew writer, having referred to the promise made to Abraham and the fact such was still a certainty today, encouraged…
“(17) So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the UNCHANGEABLE CHARACTER OF HIS PURPOSE, he guaranteed it with an oath, (18) so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might HAVE STRONG ENCOURAGEMENT TO HOLD FAST TO THE HOPE SET BEFORE US.” ( Hebrews 6:17-18 ESV)
It is through the acceptance of what God has declared regarding His Will for mankind and the provision of eternal life through Jesus Christ that all argument can be ended. What He has declared should be taken as fully confirmed. Any fussing, protesting, and whining will NOT CHANGE what He has purposed to be.
Let us be encouraged by the two facts that God’s character and His Word (oath) are UNCHANGING. He cannot lie! As we acknowledge His Will as being sovereign and His Wisdom as being perfect we should see that any change in need of taking place would be to our own opinions and practices. May it be so to the glory of God and the ultimate blessing of our lives.
Have a great day STANDING ON GOD’S PROMISES AND IN HIS PURPOSES!
Carl
