Deafening Applause!
There you are center stage! The lights are on you! The roar of the crowd is deafening! The applause goes on and on and on! What a feeling! What encouragement to keep on keeping on! But who is this audience? Who is it that is applauding your performance? Yes, you have pleased them, but who are they that are so pleased with you?
This life is a performance of one scene after another and this world is the stage. How are we doing? Who are we seeking to please? Whose applause are we allowing to encourage us onward in life?
People in this world can be so fickle. They can applaud us one minute and curse us the next. Their standard of acceptance is not always the same. What they want or expect is not the same one day and then the next. The world gets bored with the same old same old. They want something new! They want something different. They often want the limits pushed and so applaud those who are brave enough to do it. But the difficulty with the world's standards is that they are constantly changing and one can never be sure if what he is doing will get the applause or not.
God has a constant standard and it is His applause we need to be seeking. Note what John wrote about some of the Jewish rulers during the days Jesus walked on earth:
“(42) Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue; (43) FOR THEY LOVED THE GLORY THAT COMES FROM MAN MORE THAN THE GLORY THAT COMES FROM GOD.” ( John 12:42-43 ESV)
And Paul wrote:
“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” ( Galatians 1:10 ESV)
Let us do what is good because it is good. Let us do what is right because it is right. Let us do what is honorable because it is honorable. The sight of the vanity in seeking worldly fame should stir our hearts to seek the satisfaction that comes only from seeking the praise and favor of God. It is to God we are responsible! It is His praise, His applause, His accolades we need to seek to receive!
Our life is center stage. Our Heavenly Father is watching. Is He booing or applauding our performance? Let us continue to live and perform our life in His Light so that some day we may be greeted by Heaven's deafening applause as we are welcomed into eternal glory!
Have a great performance ACCORDING TO GOD’S SCRIPTING!
Carl
